Garbage and wastewater don’t go together but that does not stop residents from making poor decisions when it comes to what they choose to flush down the toilet.
Did you know that for a product to be considered flushable: it must break into small pieces quickly, not be buoyant (it must not float) and not contain plastic or regenerated cellulose but only contain materials that will readily degrade in a range of natural environments.
Sometime it’s simply a matter of not knowing that a product is flushable which can happen when non flushable wipes are not marked with “do not flush” warning or symbol. As such, many consumers mistakenly or unknowingly flush non flushable products into the toilet. Examples of Non-flushable items:
- “Wet” Wipes
- Fat,Cooking oil, Grease
- Tissue paper / wrapping paper
- Dental floss
- Cotton swabs
- Feminine products
- Diapers
- Bandages
- Kitty litter (One of the reasons we do not allow pets)
- Releasable end of toilet brushes
- Paper towels
- Toys
- Anything that is not toilet paper, human waste and water
Last year, this condo had to spend many thousands of dollars to unclog pipes that backlogged caused by non-flushable items blocking drain pipes. A clogged pipe causes water and waste to backlog and flood units above the clog.
You don’t want that — nor do your neighbours.
So please be smart and don’t use your toilet as a garbage can.

There have been many requests for a ping-pong table (table tennis) and many are looking forward to challenging their friends to a few games.
