The beauty of PlaceIV

With all the news about COVID-19 and other issues, we sometimes forget that we live in a beautiful country — and in a beautiful place.  We thought to share pictures of the beauty found on our 6.5 acres of planted and wooded grounds — not many condos in the GTA can match what we have!

We have paved pathways, a Rose garden, shade and beauty provided by our many trees … done with the help of our volunteers, management and your board of directors.

We hope you can walk about your property and truly enjoy its beauty this summer.   We should be proud of our little secret place in the heart of Mississauga.

COVID-19 Update# 4

Just an update for our residents;

We still remain in Phase 1 mode,  meaning our amenities (Gym, Pool, Billiards, Ping-Pong, Squash, Card nights… etc.) are still closed … and we are still restricted to one person per elevator (more than 1 if they live in the same unit).

The good news is out Tennis Court is OPEN!!  Currently only two people can be on the tennis court at one time, but it’s nice to know that things are slowly going to “normal” again.

Please exercise caution —  stay healthy!

COVID-19 Update# 3

A quick update on the situation at PlaceIV

    • Changed from 2/3 persons to one person /elevator (unless you are from the same unit)
    • Postponed the AGM to a date to be determined (as advised by the Condo Association)
    • We’ve asked the front desk to insist that all PSWs and nurses wear masks and gloves before they are granted entrance.

We also to express thank you to all residents and staff for their cooperation in following all guidelines.  We are all fighting the same fight and want to come out of this crisis with the least impact on our staff and residents.

Please continue to use common sense and keep yourself and others free from this virus.  We all appreciate the sacrifices and efforts that we are all experiencing.  It is for our common well-being.

COVID-19 – Update #2

Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.

To the residents of Place IVPlease follow these common-sense actions to help prevent the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus among us.

We are attempting to prevent the spread through preventative measures, but we also need YOU to use common sense to help us control the spread.

We ask that when using the elevators, try to limit the number of passengers in the elevator to 3 people and try to distance yourselves from others.

Avoid touching buttons and door handles with your unprotected hands and avoid touching your face until you’ve washed or disinfected your hands after touching unsanitized surfaces, such as buttons and door handles.

Disinfect any incoming packages  (using disinfecting wipes, if you have any) that may have been handled by an infected source.

Also note that we are asking all residents to not allow visitors into our building — with the exception of Personal Care Workers (PCW) and other health workers, like nurses and emergency personnel.

COMMON SENSE RULES

    • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
    • IF YOU ARE SICK,
      • limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
      • CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
    • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or try to not sneeze into the air — sneeze into your elbow if you must sneeze.  After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water.  If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.  Germs spread this way.
    • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like flu.

We know that this crisis will end eventually — if we use common sense, we will have survived this pandemic with fewer issues than if we didn’t — so, for the sake of all residents of Place IV,  let’s be smart and fight this together.

COVID-19 Update (Corona Virus)

The PCC232 Board of Directors and Condominium Manager are taking a proactive stance on the prevention of spreading COVOD-19 (Coronavirus) in the building.

The following is being followed through with the building staff:

      • Security, Superintendent & Cleaners have been advised upon entry into the building to wash their hands completely and then use the hand sanitizer provided.
      • Superintendent & Cleaners have always been advised to wear rubber gloves, changing 2 or 3 times a day.
      • All elevators buttons, door handles, etc. will be wiped down 2 – 3 times daily.
      • Superintendent & Cleaners to add Clorox or Vinegar to the mop pail and change more frequently.
      • GymHand sanitizer is provided inside of the gym for all resident’s hand use before going into the gym.  Please wipe down all gym equipment with the disinfectant spray bottle and wall-mounted paper after each use.
      • For the Security Desk, the staff has been advised to wipe down the Security Desk 3 or 4 times per shift – Lysol wipes have been provided.
      • At the end of each shift, Security is to wipe down the keyboard and surrounding area.
      • Hand sanitizer is provided in the main lobby and RC level  for all guests, contractors, etc. for hand use.

Public Health recommends everyday steps to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses:

      • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
      • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
      • Stay home when you are sick.
      • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
      • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Face masks are not recommended for the general public, except for people experiencing symptoms and who have been advised to wear a mask by a health care provider.

NOTICE: Bicycles are NOT Permitted in the building

With the nice weather finally here, we hope you take advantage of it and get outside and enjoy the warmer months.

We want to remind you that NO BICYCLES are permitted in the building.  Please lock your bikes in the designated bike racks found in various spots within the parking garages (and please make sure your bike is REGISTERED with the management office)

If you bring a bike indoors, you may be subject to a cleaning fee — avoid the penalty and be smart — lock your bike in the appropriate places.

Note that the corporation is not liable for damage or loss of bicycles on the property.

Men’s Sauna is reopened

The project was delayed beyond expectation, but finally the men’s sauna was updated with a new stove and while the sauna was closed, the walls and benches were sanded and re-coated with a special sealer.

As it has been several decades since it was upgraded, we hope you enjoy the results for the next few decades.

Flood warning

This weekend (Nov. 17-18, 2018) we experienced a flooding of the basement level due to someone’s negligence — again.   Someone in our building thought it was a good idea to flush a rag down the toilet.  This bad decision ended costing us all over $10, 000 in cleaning and repair fees.

Please remember that cloths, rags,  towels, paper towels, fat, grease, solid objects and stuff that toilets are not designed for should NEVER be flushed down the toilet.

It ends up costing us a lot of money to recover from those mistakes. All of us.

Your assistance in being a smart owner and resident will help us keep our condo maintenance fees down overall.

Remember, it’s YOUR money too!

New Ping-Pong room opened

We are pleased to announce that starting Monday April 16, 2018, our new Ping-Pong room (table tennis) will be open to our residents.

The new Ping-Pong room is at the far-end of the Billiards room on the 1st floor.

You can request the key for the room at the concierge desk.  You don’t have paddles and ping-pong balls? … We also have a kit with 4 paddles and 2-balls  that you can borrow when you are getting the key.

We ask that you take care of our new facility by keeping the room clean and taking care to not damage the walls or equipment.

Some basic rules are:

  • You have up to 1 hour per use but must forfeit after your hour is up if someone else is waiting to play.
  • Guests are allowed but must be accompanied by an adult resident.
  • No more than 4 players can play at a time.
  • The resident is responsible for any damage to the facilities and equipment.
